鱼片汤 (with no fish slices)
I miss Asian food so much. It hurts like a heart ache. :‘(
So here, I will dedicate this post to the one and only instant fish soup packet that I received as a trade with Saint Beatrice Noober Chiang Hi-Chew. (I traded my Korean jajangmyeon for this!) On a side note, I think both of us are turning semi-Korean with our incessant and uncontrollable addiction for Korean shows recently. I’m not complaining. Are you?
So prior to this, I posted a photo on instagram regarding my hopes on becoming an aspiring food blogger (I secretly was just tryna be hippie):
But it was so well received or I just have overly courteous friends, but come on! Look at all the positive feedback! :’) It only got better after that and I didn’t want to come off as a snob so I left out the other RAVING reviews hahahahaha #shameless
Without further ado, let the aspiring food blogger Cam begin!
Featuring the Prima Instant Pack of Fish Soup!
I came home from school, and I was SO HUNGRY and cold I literally kept day dreaming about Yong Tau Foo and Fish Soup. Without delaying further, I went to dig this out from beneath all the stash of other flavored instant noodles. (I had to keep this particular one out of sight for fear of gobbling it up too early)
Unpacking the little wonder (pardon the lousy photograph, I was so wary of whether the other tenants would come into the kitchen totally bewildered at what I was doing)
First step: Putting the soup base in
So I followed very closely to the instructions that Prima left on the back of the packaging. I have never once followed an instant noodle instructions, ever. At least not so closely and precisely. They said to boil the soup with noodles for 6.5 minutes and I actually did that.
Step 2: Put the noodles into boiling soup stock
So the instructions encouraged you to put in your own ingredients such as Red Snapper fish which unfortunately I will not be able to find here. So I just took whatever that was in the fridge – eggs and spinach and dumped it into the soup at the 6th minute to boil.
Step 3: Freestyle ingredients!
If you recall, there was that spice oil sachet from the earlier picture where I unravelled the inner beauties of the package. But my hands were so oily after I put it into the pot that I forgot to take a picture. :( But anyway, that was Step 4. Now you know.
Final product and a very hungry tummy by this time.
Sorry for the lousy picture qualities. I blame the poor lighting in the kitchen and also my laziness in editing the pictures. I guess you can call me an amateur.
Final review: This tasted nothing like the real deal back at home but it will suffice. :‘) Warm soup and springy noodles will always beat bread and potatoes any time. I also miss eating fresh fish so very much. I guess absence really makes the heart grow fonder!
On a final note, I also figured my love for food grows wider when consuming it rather than having to pre-document it. And I wonder if all food bloggers feel the same way. Oh well.
