SG50 Weekend

I am so stoked!!!! Are you? I really wonder why I am so patriotic sometimes… haha but it’s okay. I guess being patriotic means that whatever the older people talk about our generation, is blatantly unsubstantiated and untrue.

So anyway, @beatt92 has been asking me to blog. But truth is, I have NOTHING to type out. Maybe because I haven’t had the time to be alone to just inhale deeply and think. (ah yes, no wonder most writers/authors always isolate themselves on a reclusive island or something!)

But since I chanced upon this saga about the RI principal mentioning to the students, alumnus and parents in his speech about how RI needs to re-invent the “elite” wheel. And then, this other article popped out on my Facebook newsfeed as well.

Remember how I said I definitely want to send my future daughter to IJ next time? And to be honest, it’s precisely why, from my interaction with other alumnus from neighbourhood schools in CJ, they shared with me what CJ provided them and how different their experiences have been.

Even in IJ, I knew very well the additional development courses and opportunities we had. For instance, I went to OBS Singapore when I was merely 15 years old. Other components include having spiritual development, industry talks in IJ… As well as self awareness camps with our classmates. In Junior College, I had the opportunity to attend a Leadership Camp at MOE Adventure Center at the age of seventeen.

The list goes on…

Judging how I am able to articulate and converse in the English language easily, but stumble when it comes to Mandarin, is also testament to my formative years from Primary level to Junior College. And I use FF as my yardstick too hahaha. He is the exact opposite of myself, who feels more natural speaking Mandarin, whilst mildly uncomfortable with English. And of course, he was a Chung Cheng alumnus!

So yes, there is definitely a difference in education standards of schools across Singapore. Both in terms of top-hand leadership as well as the quality of teachers. But I also agree good parenting comes hand-in-hand. (yikes, thinks “Amos Yee”)

But hey, let’s not engage in a long and heated discussion now! It’s time to PARRRRRTAEEEEE!!! SG50 Weekend, here I come!

P.S. Work has been fine so far for those who were wondering. I have only successfully cleared 3 days for now. Let’s see what God has in store for me. Teehee.

Blessed Week to one and all!

Failure

I think I am not very good at dealing with failure/mistakes. People often tell me things like, “But you learn more when you fail”, or “Successful people make mistakes too”. Bullocks to that statement, my friend. I’m not discounting the... Continue →
