Tell me why

Ain’t nothing but a heart ache

Tell me why, I never wanna hear you sayyyyy

I want it that way.

Jokes aside, I am having immense trouble trying to complete my 3,000-word essay that is due in two week’s time. It baffles me because if you asked me to blog about something in great detail, I am sure I could easily hit the 3,000 word limit. But when it comes to academia, let’s just say I have always been a slow learner!

Anyway, so All Hallow’s Eve was last night and the Chinese girl from SMU kind of randomly Whatsapped me asking, “hey are you in Belgium today?” and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text message because I was honestly quite lonely after Momma Tan left. So I replied, “Hello! Yeah I am haha. Are you? :)”

and she replied shortly thereafter,
“yes. im asking you whether to go to any parties tonight?”

Now I know what you must be thinking. But no, I am not here to poke fun of the sentence structure of her reply (which eventually she didn’t reply back when I said no). Rather, the first thing that hit me was, do we really have to party every weekend and drink all the booze in the world?? Couldn’t life be more than that? Like maybe sitting down with tea and some cake, chatting about life by the river?

I don’t know about you, but I probably don’t fit in very well here, not because I don’t drink (I adore beer btw). It’s more because I drink only when there’s some sort of special occasion (or maybe when I am overly stressed). I don’t quite fancy the idea of chugging down liters of beer as a weekly affair just to win some friends’ company.

And if you’re still not convinced, I guess SMU’s International Community actually tries to include all sort of races and nationalities. But on the other hand, KU Leuven’s International Community happens to look like this, and this. Most, if not 99.91% of their events have to be magically related to booze. Which I know is a national past-time, but can’t it juuuuuust include a little more other activities?? Maybe a sport carnival or like a photography outing or like an eating competition. Just maybe?

I don’t know. I might be overreacting. Or maybe I secretly miss beer so much that I have become a sour grape.

Either way, I wish you a happy November too.

Before I get into trouble later, I rather post this today than ‘another day’. So that I can void myself of responsibility one day when she happens to chance upon this post. Anyway, let me introduce to all of you, my travel buddy - Beat!... Continue →
